Fillmore Central three-sport standout Maggie Malone signed a national letter of intent Thursday to compete collegiately in track and field at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Malone, who also considered the University of Missouri and Kansas St. University for track and other colleges for volleyball, follows her mother, Nancy Kindig-Malone to Nebraska where she was an All-American in the heptathlon for the Huskers in 1980-81. Kindig-Malone still holds the NU school record in the 220-yard hurdles and is also ranked No. 6 all-time in the penthathlon. Shown (above) are Maggie’s parents (L-R) Danny and Nancy, along with aunt Colleen Lecher, who is the Lincoln Public School jump coach. Malone said she plans to be a multi-event competitor this fall in Lincoln. “I’ll do whatever they say,” Malone said. “I will try and follow in mom’s footsteps.” |
