Cindy Talley, local adviser of the Fillmore Central FBLA, was recognized at the State Leadership Conference on April 10, as Nebraska’s Outstanding Local Adviser. This award honors one adviser who has made outstanding contributions to the association at the local, state, and national levels.

Nominations for the award are received from other local advisers throughout the state at the Fall Leadership Conference. Nominees must have a minimum of ten years of service and are judged on extent of participation in conferences, chairmanships, professional organization participation and involvement in school and community activities.

Talley is completing her 30th year of teaching business education in the Fillmore Central system. During that time, she has served as an FBLA chaperone six years and head adviser for 24. She has accompanied 34 students to several national conferences over the years, assisted in 12 state office campaigns and advised seven state officers.

On the state level, she annually serves as co-chair of the job interview event at State Leadership Conference and has given several presentations at Fall Leadership Conference and the NCE Summer Conference.

Professionally, Talley is active in the Nebraska State Business Education along with National Business Education Association and currently serves as a co-chair for the awards committee. She also is an active member of the Association for Career and Technical Teachers of Nebraska and has been state treasurer since 2004.
