BDS At Mustang Invite

On April 6, the BDS Eagles participated in Meridian High School's Mustang Invite track meet held at Friend. The BDS girls' team finished in fifth place in this 11 team meet, scoring 53.5 points, while the boys scored 43 and wound up in sixth.

The boys were paced by William Mick's two gold medals as he won the pole vault with a leap of 11-feet, 9-inches, and the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 23.5 seconds. Cynthia Mick brought home the only first place medal for the girls when she established her personal best of 10-7 in the pole vault. Cynthia did go on to collect a couple of silver medals as she took second in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Jennifer Mick was able to capture a silver medal in the pole vault. The boys were able to add one silver medal as well when Derek Swartzendruber took second place in the high jump.

Others who placed for the boys were Jose Gamboa who was fourth in the shot put; Karson Novacek who was fourth in the pole vault; the 400 relay team of Jose, William, Luke Christensen and Ryan Tegtmeier fifth; the 1600 relay team of Derek, Ryan, Omar Gines, Michael Houchin sixth; and the 3200 relay team of Regan Ahrens, Wyatt Schoenholz, Trevor Krehnke and Dillon Deepe fourth.

Others who placed for the girls were Taylor Houck who ran a personal best of 51.7 to take third in the 300 hurdles; Erika Schroeder who was fourth in the 1600, and fourth in the 100 hurdles; Taylor Kindelspire who had a personal best leap of 14-8 to finish fifth in the long jump; the 400 relay team of Taylor K, Taylor H, Caressa Reinsch and Anna Lichti sixth; the 1600 relay team of Cynthia, Erika, Kalli Schroeder and Jill Schroeder fifth; and the 3200 relay team of Kalli, Jill, Christy Swartzendruber and Liz Ohlde fifth.

The Eagles will be in action next Saturday at the MUDECAS and track meet held in Pawnee City.
