Farmers Cooperative representatives presented a check to the Blue Valley Community Action of Fillmore County for the amount of $1,500 on behalf of the Farmers Cooperative Hunger Program to support their continued efforts in assisting the local community. These funds will be used to supply goods at the local food pantry in Geneva, which services Fillmore County.
Farmers Cooperative has made a donation to Blue Valley Community Action which covers six counties within Farmers Cooperative’s trade territory including Fillmore, Jefferson, Saline, Seward, Thayer and York. A total of $10,650 was provided to the Blue Valley Community Action Food pantries.
This was a special donation presentation for Farmers Cooperative as representatives also presented a check to the Can Care-a-Van at the BVCA Food Pantry in Geneva showcasing over $22,000 that Farmers Cooperative has donated to food pantries in Southeast Nebraska Employees also got the chance to promote the Hunger Program through the Pure Nebraska segment on 10/11.
The Farmers Cooperative is devoted to raising funds for the Hunger Program. At the employee Christmas Party, the Farmers Cooperative conducts a silent auction, live auction and a raffle to support food pantries and school back pack programs. The funds raised at the Christmas party were matched by the Management and our Board of Directors and then those funds were matched with the Land O’ Lakes and CHS foundations totaling over $47,000. The funds from this program are dispersed every year throughout the 60 communities in their trade territory, including Southeast Nebraska and Northeast Kansas.
“In Nebraska 227,000 people do not know where their next meal is coming from and about one-third of those people are children,” according to Dennis Kenning, the sales and marketing manager for Farmers Cooperative. Kenning also went on to say, “Farmers Cooperative believes very strongly in supporting our local communities that we serve.”
This donation by Farmers Cooperative was made possible by FC Employees, Management, FC Board of Directors, and partnerships with companies such as Land O’Lakes and the CHS Foundation.  Farmers Cooperative appreciates Blue Valley Community Action for all of their time, hard work, dedication and continued commitment to helping those in need.
Farmers Cooperative also provides funds for the School Backpack Program throughout all of Southeast Nebraska. The Farmers Cooperative’s Hunger Program also encompasses counties and schools in Northeast Kansas.
