The Fillmore Central girls finished in seventh place and the Panther boys landed in ninth place at the Class B-laden Fairbury Invite on Saturday.  Also, several key athletes were involved with trapshooting on March 24.
The meet wasn't without some highlights though as Grace Jacobson won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5 minutes, 35.5 seconds.  Teammate Macy Scott placed sixth in the race that featured 30 competitors.
Panther throw specialist Alexis Schmidt placed second in the shot put (38-feet, 3-inches) and fourth in the discus (121-7) in Fairbury.
The FC boys 1,600-meter relay squad clipped the tape in 3:47.04 to finish in third place behind Crete and Beatrice.  Ine Ervik placed fourth in the 3,200-meter run for the Panther girls.
Chandler Schelkopf placed fourth in the 1,600-meter run (5:08.66) behind a pair of York runners and one from Beatrice.  Teammate Kole Karcher was four seconds back for fifth place.
"It was a very cold and windy day...and this is primarily a Class B meet," Panther coach Adam Verhage said.  "Several athletes were missing due to trap shooting.  Chandler and Kole ran really well in the mile. The young kids got to see some really good competition.  I'm proud of the effort and the attitude.
