Helen Waring Johnson celebrated her sixth year of performances in September of 2017.  The Geneva native gave 97 performances last year.  Johnson has performed over 840 shows in her six-plus years of entertaining at 131 different venues.
Helen Musical Hats! was featured on TV Channel 10/11-KOLN/KGIN News on “Lance’s Journal” on May 13, 2017. Helen’s show was featured in various Nebraska newspapers: The Nebraska Signal (Geneva), Minden Courier (Minden), Polk County News (Stromsburg/Osceola) and Custer County Chief (Broken Bow) when performing across Nebraska.
Johnson has performed for museums, libraries, schools, churches, organizational meetings, banquets and conventions along with retirement communities, rehab facilities, hospitals, Veteran’s Homes, memory care facilities and assisted/independent living centers.
Johnson has a new music CD hot off the press released on October 8, 2017 titled, “17 Historic Nebraska Songs in 2017” celebrating the 150th Birthday of Nebraska. Her CD is now housed in the Nebraska State Historical Society Archives and Nebraska libraries throughout the state. Many of the songs on this CD were written by women from Nebraska, hailing from Bayard, Minden, Louisville and Lincoln. Another Nebraska Songs CD Project has been recorded, soon be released in early 2018 with 26 Nebraska songs dating back from 1888.
Helen’s Patriotic Music Show has been popular (averaging 30 Patriotic performances per year since 2012) and three additional music CDs: “Christmas Celebration”, “Irish/St. Patrick’s Day” and “Old Fashioned Songs Variety Show.”  Helen DVDs and CDs are available for purchase from multiple outlets.
Johnson is a three-year member of Nebraska Humanities Speakers Bureau. Helen has arranged and also  performs on a 31 song CD of Weldon Kees.
