BDS Girls Now 19-2

On January 30, the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Lady Eagles welcomed the Osceola Lady Bulldogs to Davenport for a CRC matchup.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 17-1 lead after one quarter of play.
"Defensively we were able to force Osceola into turning the ball over and were able to score off their turnovers,"  BDS head coach Shana Gerberding said.
In the second quarter, the Lady Eagles continued with the defensive pressure and ended up taking a 34 – 7 lead into half time.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to struggle against the Lady Eagles defensive pressure to start the second half.  By the start of the fourth quarter BDS held a 47–12 lead.
"With the game in hand, we were able to play our reserves the entire fourth quarter." Gerberding said
BDS improved to 18-2 with the 49-19 win.
Socrers for the Eagles: Swartzendruber 9, Grote 8, Kamler 6, Kleinschmidt,  Kadel, Alfs, Hudson and Kadel each chipped in 4 points.
On Friday night, the Lady Eagles traveled to Shelby to take on the Shelby-Rising City Lady Huskies.
In similar fashion, the Lady Eagles were able to get off to a fast start offensively and defensively in the game.
"The girls were able to take Shelby-Rising City out of the game early and they were never able to get into a flow offensively," Gerberding said.
At the end of the firts quarter, the Eagles held an 18-5 lead and took a 29-12 lead into the break.
"Defensively the girls are playing really well right now, they are figuring out how to apply pressure without fouling, which will be a key going in to the post season.
Offensively it was fun to watch the girls attack the basket and then find the open person once SRC’s defense moved to stop the dribble penetration."
With the 53-31 win the  Lady Eagles improved to 19-2 on the season, No. 2 in Class D-1 wildcard points.
Socring: Grote 13, Kleinschmidt 10, Alfs 9.
BDS hosted Meridian in Davenport on February 6 and will host High Plains on Friday, February 9. D1-2 Sub-district play begins on February 13 at Sandy Creek.  BDS will play Lawrence/Nelson in round one.
