Fillmore Central finished in third place at the 2018 Southern Nebraska Conference (SNC) Basketball Tournament.  The 12-8 Panthers captured the Consolation Final on Saturday afternoon with a 44-38 win over 14-7, Class C-1 Milford.
FC began SNC Tournament play with a 51-43 victory over Centennial at Centennial last Tuesday.  No further information or statistics were available for any games.
On Thursday afternoon, the Panthers ran into a buzzsaw in the name of Superior in its SNC semi-final game at Centennial.  The 20-1, Class C-2, No. 2 Wildcats started the contest with a 6-0 run and never let the foot off the gas.  Superior led the game 19-8 after one quarter and 31-15 at intermission.

The Panthers were only able to muster seven points in the entire second half before falling to the Wildcats, 64-22.  Three Superior players ended in double figures—Nicki Kirchoff with 20 and both Kalynn Meyer and Megan Miller with 19. Superior would go on to down Heartland 62-40 in the SNC Championship game.

The Panthers hosted Sandy Creek on Tuesday and will travel to Sutton this Friday.  FC will be the second seed in the C2-1 Sub-district in Fairbury on Feb. 12-15. The Panthers should play Southern in the opening round, while top-seeded Superior will play the winner of the Freeman and Thayer Central contest.
