Bruning-Davenport/Shickley improved to 14-3 on the season and No. 4 in wildcard points in Class D-1 with a pair of wins in Friend. The Eagles downed 12-5 Heartland 25-13, 25-15 and the host 8-7 Bulldogs 25-23, 25-15.
BDS head coach Kari Jo Alfs noted the Eagles had limited errors against Heartland and kept in control throughout the match.
"Our defense did a nice job of picking up their attacks and sending the serve receive to the setter," Alfs said.
Caitlin Mosier served up three aces against the Huskies and Regan Alfs nailed eight kills. Carley Elznic pounded down six kills and Kim Ardissono had five. Jadyn Kleinschmidt tallied 12 assists. Elznic tallied two ace blocks.
The sledding was tougher with Friend, as the first set was knotted at 19-19. The second set went much easier for BDS.
Elznic smacked six kills and Macy Kamler had five. Alfs tallied nine assists and Kleinschmidt had eight. Elznic and Kamler both had three ace blocks.
On Thursday night, BDS split a triangular in Blue Hill. The Eagles downed the home team 25-18, 26-24, but fell to Giltner 16-25, 25-20, 25-18.
Elznic thumped eight kills against the Bobcats. Kamler belted three ace serves. Elznic smacked nine kills against the Hornets and Kamler nailed eight. Alfs served for nine points and had a dozen assists. Megan Grote came up with 13 digs. Kleinschmidt tallied 12 ace sets for BDS.
The Eagles host East Butler and Osceola Tuesday.
