Eagle Girls First; Boys Fourth At 2016 Turkey Creek Relays

Last Tuesday, March 29, the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley track teams started their season at the Turkey Creek Relays held in Friend.  On a cloudy, windy day both teams competed well as the girls captured the top spot and the boys finished in fourth.  Since it was a relay meet all events, including field events, were scored as a relay.
The girls were able to place first in one of the field events when Tristen Mosier and Catherine Mick combined to win the pole vault.  Courtney Kamler was also able to place 4th in the pole vault as a “team” when the other schools ran out of competitors.  Megan Grote and Brice Ardissono took second in the high jump with Caitlin Mosier taking 6th in that event as well.  Megan then teamed up with Jadyn Kleinschmidt to finish 3rd in the long jump, and Jadyn and Mashaya Dierking took 3rd in the triple jump also.  In the discus, Carley Elznic and Tara Lee Hudson finished 5th, and Tara Lee combined with Skyler Knigge to finish 6th in the shot put.
The running relays followed and the girls brought home several first place finishes in those.  The team of Catherine, Tristen, Megan, and Carley won the hurdle shuttle.  Jadyn, Mashaya, Tristen and Megan won the 800 relay.  Mashaya, Catherine,Carley, and Sera Johnson won the 400 relay.  Other girls relays that placed were the 3200 relay team of Brice, Courtney, Morgan Lowery, and Johana Degner that finished 5th.  The 2 mile Medley team of Sera, Lexi Kadel, Madison Elznic, and Haley Pena Lopez  finished 3rd.  The 1600 medley relay team of Tristen, Catherine, Haley, and Lexi finished 3rd, and the 1600 relay team of Brice Courtney, Caitlin, and Miranda Elznic finished 4th.
The boys were able to take second place in several relays as Thomas Mick and Chris Lichti were runner up in the pole vault.  Sam Christensen, Hunter Krehnke, John Alfs, and Isaac Baysinger finished 2nd in the hurdle shuttle, and Thomas teamed up with Kale Kleinschmidt, Kendall Dickson, and Brett Holtzen for the runner up spot in the 1600 medley.  Other relays that placed for the boys included Sam and Taylor Anderson 3rd in the high jump, Kale Smith and Jacob Swartzendruber placed 5th in the high jump as well, Brandon Anderson and Jackson Grote placed 4th in the triple jump, John Alfs and Holden Stengel were 4th in the shot put.  Stuart Rohr and John Christensen were 4th in the discus.
Terry McBride and Josh Hinrichs were 6th in the long jump.  Kale Kleinschmidt, Noel Gines, Thomas, and Caden Norder were 3rd in the 800 relay.  Kendall, Hunter, Kamron Dickson, and Kale Smith were 4th in the 2 mile medley.  Kamron, Terry, Logan Schroeder, and Josiah Kamler were 4th in the distance medley.  Holden, Brandon, Jacob, and John Christensen were 4th in the 400 relay.  Noel, Hunter, Taylor, and Kale Kleinschmidt were 5th in the 1600relay, and the 3200 relay of Brett, Taylor, Josiah and Kale Smith finished 6th.
