Four Panther grapplers earned medals at the talent-filled Southern Nebraska Conference Wrestling Championships on Friday.
Seniors Cole Jividen (3-1 in Superior) and Cody Whitehead (3-1 in Superior) both took third in their respective weight divisions, 113 pounds and 132 pounds. Panther Gatlin Motis (2-2 on Friday) earned a fourth-place medal at 160 pounds and R.J. Hinrichs (3-1 in Superior) was third at 182 pounds.
FC finished in a tie for ninth place at the 10-team meet with 45 points.  Class C team favorite David City and Wilber-Clatonia dominated the SNC Championships.
The Panthers travel to Gibbon this Friday and Saturday to compete in the C-3 District Meet.  On paper, the C-3 Meet looks a bit easier route to Omaha than many others.  Jividen will be a favorite to advance to State.  The senior comes into this weekend with a 38-11 record.  Wood River's Evan Waddington will be the district favorite at 113 pounds.  Whitehead heads into district action with a 30-16 season mark.  Vinny Pearson of Gibbon appears to be the favorite at 132 pounds at districts.
Riley Moses enters C-3 District action at 31-18 in the 220-pound weight division that has no state-ranked wrestlers in it at districts.  Parker Trowbridge enters districts at 24-25 at 126 pounds.  Wood River's Wyatt Allan is the district favorite.  Gatlin Motis enters action in Gibbon at 16-19 at 160 pounds.  This weight division is stacked with state-ranked wrestlers Ryan Malasek of Central City and Daniel Duffy of Shelton/Kenesaw appearing in the brackets.
Panther R.J. Hinrichs enters district action this weekend 30-20 at 182 pounds.  Another loaded bracket in Gibbon features state-ranked Jack Duffy of S/K, Dylan Buschow of Red Cloud/Blue Hill and Central City's Brad Scoch.  FC 195-pounder Travien Motis enters district action at 15-14.  Another difficult district bracket contains state-rated wrestlers Colton Brown of Gibbon and Marshall Makowski of Central City.
