E-M Downs H-TR-S; Falls To BDS In Beatrice

The Exeter-Milligan girls finished 1-1 in play in the 2016 MUDECAS A Division tournament.  The 10-3 Timberwolves (No. 9 in wildcard points in Class D-2) were upended by Bruning-Davenport/Shickley 43-33 in the opening round and kept Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer at bay to prevail 50-41 in Beatrice.
E-M shot just 1-for-12 from beyond the 3-point arc against the Eagles.  The Timberwolves shot 32 percent (13-for-40) for the game.  Kelsey Bigelow paced the E-M offense with 15 points against BDS.  Bigelow also snagged four rebounds and dished out an assist.
Samantha Horne tossed in seven points and Sydney Hall netted six.  Hall and Bigelow both had two steals.  Hannah Beethe and Tara Mueller both added a bucket.  Katherine White canned a free throw and dished out two assists.
E-M led H-TR-S 30-18 at halftime to prevail against their 3-9, Class C-2 opponents.  The Timberwolves were able to make three 3-pointers and shot 37 percent from the field on 16-for-43 shooting.  E-M also spent plenty of time at the free throw line converting 15-of-26 charity attempts.
Hall scored a team-high 11 points in the contest.  White put in nine points and snagged a team-high eight rebounds.  Bigelow, Horne and Marissa Howard all scored seven points in the win.  Bigelow dished out four assists and made five steals.  Howard also had five steals on January 15.  Beethe added six points and Mueller entered the scorer's book with three points.

E-M plays at Meridian and then hosts BDS for a rematch this Friday night in Exeter.  The 2016 Crossroads Basketball Tournament begins this Saturday in York.
