After a 1-1 split last week, the Exeter-Milligan girls are 9-2 on the season and No. 4 in wildcard points in Class D-2.  The Timberwolves lost 60-57 at 7-3, Class D-1 Diller-Odell on January 5 and downed 6-5, Class C-2 Shelby/Rising City 40-24 in Exeter.
The Timberwolves trailed D-O 32-28 at halftime last Tuesday and could not catch up to the home team in the tightly-contested contest.  Marissa Howard poured in a game-high 23 points in the contest.  The senior also snagged three rebounds, dished out two assists and swiped four steals.  Sydney Hall added 10 points and fiver rebounds for E-M.
Hannah Beethe chipped in nine points and five rebounds for the Timberwolves and Kelsey Bigelow added seven points and two assists.  Both Tara Mueller and Kate Jansky scored three points and Samantha Horne added a bucket.  Mueller snagged a team-high six rebounds. Katherine White contributed two steals.
E-M shot 39 percent from the field (19-for-48) and canned seven 3-point baskets.  The Timberwolves were also 12-for-20 from the charity stripe last Tuesday.
E-M was able to overcome S/RC's height and prevailed over the Huskies by 16 points in a fine defensive effort.  The Timberwolves led the contest 21-11 at intermission and didn't allow S/RC to score in double figures in any quarter in the game Friday night.
Howard again paced the E-M offense with 15 points.  Hall added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds in the victory and Mueller netted five points.  Beethe, Bigelow and Horne all tossed in four points to complete the home team's scoring.  Bigelow and Hall both recorded three steals and Horne dished out three assists.  E-M shot 46 percent (15-for-32) in the win and went 9-for-13 from the line.
