BDS Girls Beat Kenesaw, Dorchester

BDS pulled away in the second half to down the Kenesaw Blue Devils 51-39 in girls basketball Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Bruning. The score was even at 25-25 at halftime.

“Our girls played a very complete basketball game,” Eagle co-head coach Michael Brown said. “We shot the ball well from the field and from the free throw line. Ashley Hinrichs came off of the bench and gave us a great lift with 17 points and six rebounds.

"Shelby Garland added 10 points and Tara Pavelka led us on the boards with seven rebounds. The team is getting better by the game and players are really playing as a team.”

BDS made 13 of 22 free throw tries. The Eagles sank 19 of 54 from the field, while Kenesaw was 11 of 49 from the field. The Blue Devils made 5 of 17 free throw attempts.BDS held a 41-15 edge on the boards.

The BDS Eagles beat the Dorchester Longhorns 44-30 in girls basketball Friday, Dec. 10 at Bruning as the winners led after each quarter.

Shelby Garland led the Eagles in scoring with 17 points on a 54 percent performance.

The Eagles took the lead 14-7 after the first quarter, and margins of 15-9 and 10-6 in the second and third quarters boosted the lead to 39-22 going into the final period.

“We shot the ball very well as a team,” BDS co-head coach Scott Shipley said. “Our defense is becoming very solid. The Lady Eagles are continuing to mesh together and are continuing to improve.”

BDS improved its season mark to 3-1.
