Pribyl, Horne Strike Gold In Henderson; E-M Girls 4th; Boys Sixth

The Exeter-Milligan girls landed in fourth place in the team standings at the 2015 Heartland Track and Field Invite, while the Timberwolf boys landed in sixth place at the nine-team meet.  Hastings St. Cecilia rolled to the girls' team championship amassing 153 points on April 14.  Heartland was second and Bruning-Davenport/Shickley placed third.  The Timberwolf girls scored 58 points.
Both Amber Pribyl and Madison Horne were able to win gold in Henderson last week.  Pribyl took top honors in the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 2-inches and Horne won the triple jump with an effort of 31-6.50.  Timberwolf Maitlyn Thomsen earned runner-up honors in the long jump (16-.50) and 100-meter hurdles (17.16 seconds) at the meet which featured a mix of Class C and D schools. Thomsen was also fourth in the 400-meter dash (65.28) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (28.77).
Horne placed sixth in the 100-meter dash (14.09) and Pribyl took sixth in both the 400-meter dash (66.86) and 800-meter run (2:45.32).
Additional top six finishes for the E-M girls included Kelsey Bigelow, pole vault, fifth 8-0; Hannah Beethe, 100-meter hurdles, fifth 18.39; Bigelow, 800-meter run, fifth 2:42.45; Marietta Purtschert, 3,200-meter run, fourth 13:37.83; and 1,600-meter relay, fourth, 4:34.93.
The E-M boys were paced by runner-up efforts turned in by Dalton Zelenka and Derek Luzum.  The Timberwolf boys scored 58 points in Henderson.  Hastings St. Cecilia and Sutton battled for the boys' team title with the Blue Hawks prevailing 111-102.  Sandy Creek was third, while Heartland and McCool Junction landed in fourth and fifth ahead of E-M.
Zelenka took second in the 3,200-meter run in 11:08.90.  He also placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:16.02.  Luzum was runner-up in the high jump by clearing 5-10.
Timberwolf Samuele Columbo took third place in both the long jump (19-4.25) and the triple jump (39-5.75) in Henderson.  Dusty Axline cleared 12-0 to take third place in the pole vault and teammate Jack Dinneen was one spot behind in fourth with an effort of 11-6.  E-M's Trystan Brandt placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a clocking of 55.22.  Brandt also placed sixth in the long jump leaping 19-1.25.
The Timberwolf boys were solid in the relays on April 14 placing in all three races.  E-M was the top Class D squad in the 3,200-meter relay taking third in the race in 9:34.37.  Team members include Luzum, Patrick Murphy, Sam Zeleny and Zelenka.  The Timberwolves placed fourth in both the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays.
Running in the 4 by 100 for the Wolves were Cameron White, Trevor Luzum, Columbo and Axline (48.12).  Taking fourth in the 4 by 400 were D. Luzum, Zeleny, Columbo and Brandt (3:48.64).  McCool Junction finished a spot ahead of E-M in both these relay events.
