Brandt; Thomsen Shine At 2015 Mustang Invite

The Exeter-Milligan girls landed in fourth place and the Timberwolf boys took fifth place in the 2015 Mustang Invite on April 8 in Friend.  The E-M girls scored 67 points—just behind Hampton and Bruning-Davenport/Shickley and the Timberwolf boys scored 51.5 points.
The Giltner girls easily claimed the top spot in the Crossroads Conference (CRC) laden track meet.  McCool Junction outpointed High Plains, 95-89, to take the top spot in the boys' team race.  Sterling was third in the boys' team standings, while Giltner was fourth at the 11-team invite.
Timberwolf Trystan Brandt enjoyed a solid day for E-M in Friend on April 8.  Brandt zipped to gold in the 200-meter dash in 23.80 seconds at the Mustang Invite.  Brandt also finished second in the 400-meter dash (54.80) and took third in the long jump with a leap of 19-feet, 8.25 inches.
Samuele Columbo had a solid meet last week, as Columbo placed second in the triple jump (39-3.50) and fifth in the long jump (19-5.75).  Timberwolf Jack Dinneen was fourth in pole vault by clearing 11-feet and Dinneen also took sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:31.50.
Additional scoring was turned in by Sam Zeleny, fifth in the 800-meter run, 2:16.70; and Broc Mueller, third in the discus, 117-3; and Derek Luzum, fifth in the high jump, 5-6. The Timberwolf 1,600-meter relay team of Zeleny, Dinneen, Columbo and Luzum placed sixth with a clocking of 4:02.  The E-M 3,200-meter relay squad of Patrick Murphy, Luzum, Dinneen and Zeleny placed fifth in a time of 9:48.30.
For the E-M girls, Maitlyn Thomsen struck gold in the long jump with a winning effort of 16-.75 feet.  The Timberwolf 1,600-meter relay team was also victorious by defeating a solid field in a winning time of 4:36.90.
Thomsen picked up three additional individual medals in the 200-meter dash, 28.80; and the 400-meter dash, 65.50; and the 100-meter hurdles, 17.70.  Teammate Amber Pribyl placed third in the 400-meter dash at 65.60.  Kelsey Bigelow took fifth in the 800-meter run, 2:44.40; and fifth in the pole vault, 7-0.

Timberwolf Marietta Purtschert took third in the 3,200-meter in Friend in 13:57.70.  Purtschert was also third in the long jump, 14-11.25. Madison Horne rounded out the E-M girls' scoring with a sixth-place effort in the triple jump, 30-7.50.
