Panthers Compete In Fairbury On Saturday

The Fillmore Central 4 by 800 boys relay team and Panther speedster Xavier Bridges struck gold at the Class B-laden Fairbury Track Invite on Saturday, March 28.
The FC quartet of seniors Lance Donovan, Davis Jacobson, Leyton Hopken and Conrad Schelkopf clipped the tape in 8 minutes, 42.35 seconds in Fairbury to win the 4 by 800-meter relay on Saturday afternoon.  Bridges was dominant in the sprints in Fairbury, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.26 seconds and also claiming gold in the 200-meter dash in 23.43 seconds.  The Panther senior finished off his impressive showing on Saturday by sailing 21-feet, 2.5 inches to take second place in the long jump.
Top efforts on Saturday in Fairbury for the Panther girls were turned in by Cori Knapp, second in the pole vault; and McKenzie Scheil, third in the shot put.  More solid placings turned in by the FC boys included Riley Chapman, third in the high jump; and Conrad Schelkopf, third in the 1,600-meter run.
Earning Top six medals on March 28 for FC in Fairbury included:  Knapp, second pole vault, 8-6; Sophia Frook, fifth pole vault, 8-0; Aiwa Temme, sixth pole vault, 7-6; Wyatt Schiermeyer, fifth pole vault, 12-6; Scheil, third shot put, 35-6; Alexis Schmidt, fourth shot put, 34-3; Bridges, second long jump, 21-2.5; Emileigh Kennel, fourth triple jump, 33-2.5; Chapman, fifth triple jump, 39-1; Chapman, third high jump, 6-2; boys 4 by 8, first, 8:42.35; Bridges, first 100-meter dash, 11.26; Nate Rasmussen, fourth 100-meter dash, 11.8; Schelkopf, third 1,600-meter run, 4:51.60; Ethan Delong, fifth 400-meter dash, 53.79; Hopken, fifth 800-meter run, 2:15.73; Bridges, first 200-meter dash, 23.43; Josh Taylor, fourth 200-meter dash, 24.48; girls 4 by 400-meter relay team of Kennel, Temme, Grace Jacobson and Shelby Schelkopf, sixth, 5:01.43; and boys 4 by 400-meter relay team of Donovan, Hopken, Delong and Schelkopf, fourth, 3:46.21.
