FC Competes At State

Panther Conrad Schelkopf led the efforts of all Fillmore Central runners at the 2014 NSAA State Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 24, in Kearney.  The Panther senior covered the rugged 3.1 mile Kearney Country Club course in 18 minutes, 1.8 seconds, to place 23rd in the Class D boys' portion of the championships.
Teammate Adam Hoarty clipped the tape in 19:02.9 to finish in 62nd position and Panther Garrett Whitley followed in 68th place (19:06.7).  FC freshman Chandler Schelkopf took 96th (19:54.2) in Kearney.  Noah Temme placed 112th and Cole Jividen was 135th.
The Panther boys ended up in eighth place at the meet—42 points out of fifth place.  A total of 18 teams posted scores in Kearney.  FC was sandwiched in between Doniphan-Trumbull (seventh) and Malcolm (ninth).
Panther girl harriers Grace Jacobson and Emileigh Kennel finished in 42nd and 45th position, respectively, in Kearney.  Jacobson, just a freshman, covered the challenging course in 22:31.4, while the sophomore Kennel clipped the tape in 22:31.9.
