Fillmore Central Thumps York 33-12

Fillmore Central (2-0) played a very sound first half of football jumping out to a 27-6 halftime lead over York at the Dukes' Homecoming game. The Panthers would go on to a 33-12 victory.

"We got a little tired in the second half but held on for the win," FC coach Ryan Komenda said

Senior running back Tanner Leick led the way for FC with 28 carries for 208 yards and two touchdowns. One was a very impressive scamper of 90 yards. Kyle Kremer added 18 carries for 83 yards and a score.

Kyle Karcher was very efficient passing 6-for-9 for 81 yards and a score. His touchdown was a 33-yard fly pass to Shawn Yates. Rounding out the scoring was a beautiful double pass executed from Austin Scott to Isaac Bridges for 35 yards on fourth and 14 that extended the lead to 27-6 to end the first half.

"Our offensive line did a tremendous job against a very big defensive front as we amassed 416 yards of total offense," Komenda said. "The line had a total of 12 knockdowns."

The 2-0 Panthers host a very good Minden (1-1) team this Friday, which will also be FC's Homecoming contest.

Players of the week: Practice Player: Zach Ekeler; Scout Player: Dillon Graham; Courage Player: Chandler Menard and Team Player: Tanner Leick and Dalton Carter.
