Boswell Attends Program

Part I of the ASA Leadership At Its Best Program, sponsored by Syngenta, was held recently in Greensboro, N.C. Kenneth Boswell, a producer from Shickley, and a director for the Nebraska Soybean Association, joined association leaders from 18 other states and Canada to complete advanced leadership training that provides the skills necessary to be an effective voice for the U.S. soybean farmer.

Participants were trained in media relations, communication skill development, soybean industry policy issues, future trends, and organizational leadership. They also networked with fellow producers representing the National Corn Growers Association.

“The goal of the ASA National Leadership Development Program is to help soybean growers become more dynamic leaders and spokespeople for the agriculture industry,” says Rob Joslin, ASA president. “In the face of challenging times, strong leadership is critical to defining agriculture’s future.”

Part II of Leadership At Its Best will be held in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with the ASA National Board meeting, March 15-17, 2011.

During that time, participants in the program will meet with Senators and Congressmen from their state, to discuss key policy issues affecting the soybean industry and American soybean producers.
