Nu Star Energy, with a propane, gasoline and diesel terminal in Geneva was presented the award for top donor to the Cornhusker United Way’s 2009 Campaign. With only 13 local employees, the company raised a total of $17,000 among its employees and company match. This made Nu Star not only the top donor but also the top per capita donor.

The Cornhusker United Way (CUW) covers several rural counties within southeast Nebraska, including Fillmore, Saline, Thayer, Jefferson, Seward, Butler, and rural areas of York County outside the City of York and Saunders County outside the City of Wahoo. Currently ten area service organizations participate in the CUW.

Representatives of Blue Valley Community Action Partnership, one of those organizations, presented the award to the Nu Star employees and management.

The Cornhusker United Way 2010 Campaign will begin September 1 and will run through October. Those wishing to volunteer or donate can contact United Way president Scott Bartels, c/o Saline County Area Transit at 402-433-4511 or toll free at 1-888-433-7228.
