Stokebrand Works As Intern On Letterman

Bureau chief Carson Stokebrand, who grew up in the small town of Exeter, is pursuing his master’s degree in journalism and mass communications with a specialization in broadcasting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He obtained his undergraduate degrees in communications and history from Concordia University in Seward.

After working as a reporter for The Sower, CU’s student newspaper, Stokebrand was named managing editor during his senior year of college and oversaw the completion of every aspect of the newspaper. In 2009, he won second place in the investigative/in-depth story category at the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association annual competition. Stokebrand also was named Concordia’s outstanding student of journalism and public relations that year.

At UNL, Stokebrand has worked as a graduate assistant for NewsNetNebraska, the J school’s news website, for which he has also produced his own content. Additional experiences have included a weekly radio shift for KRNU News on UNL’s campus, an internship with KLKN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, and representing the journalism school on the UNL Graduate Student Association.

Stokebrand, an Exeter-Milligan High School graduate, returns to Nebraska this summer from New York City after completing an internship at the Late Show with David Letterman, where he worked as the writers’ intern.
