E-M Begins Track Season

teams began their seasons with action at a triangular in McCool Junction on March 19 and then by participating in the Turkey Creek Relays on Tuesday, March 27, in Friend.

The Timberwolf girls won all the relays on March 19 at McCool Junction. Winning individual events at the triangular for E-M were Madison Horne, triple jump, 31-feet, .5 inches; Maitlyn Thompsen, long jump, 14-8.5; Amber Pribyl, 400-meter dash, 68.46 seconds; and Jennifer Pribyl, 800-meter dash, 2:44.96.

Top 3 finishes for the Timberwolf girls in McCool Junction were: A. Pribyl, second, Megan Waldron, third, high jump; Logan Zeleny, third, shot put; Thompson, second, Horne, third, 100-meter dash; Thompson, second, 300-meter hurdles; J. Pribyl, second, 1,600-meter run; Erika Yound, third, discus; Alecia Bigelow, second, pole vault; Bigelow, third, 400-meter dash; and Horne, second, 200-meter dash.

Robbie Androyna was the lone gold medal winner for the E-M boys by winning the 400-meter dash in 55.33 seconds. Other Top 3 placings for the Timberwolf boys on March 19 were: Nolan White, second, Kyle Jensen, third, triple jump; 3,200-meter relay, second; Androyna, second, 100-meter dash; 1,600-meter relay, third; White, third, discus; Androyna, third, long jump; Dustin Axline, third, pole vault; James Sluka, third, 200-meter dash; and 400-meter relay team, third.

Joining the Timberwolves in McCool Junction were the home Mustangs and Hampton.


The E-M girls landed in third place in the team standings at the 2012 Turkey Creek Relays in Friend. Girls' team honors went to Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, while Sterling was runner-up at the nine-team meet.

The Timberwolf boys finished in seventh place on March 27 in Friend. Nebraska City Lourdes Central were team champions and Pawnee City took third.

The E-M girls were powerful on the track in Friend. The Timberwolves rolled to victories in the 3,200-meter relay (10 minutes, 37.19 seconds); distance medley (11:10.12); 800-meter relay (1:57.65) and 1,600-meter relay (4:29.57). The 400-meter relay placed third last Tuesday with a clocking of 54.55 seconds.

Additional points for the E-M girls were provided by Waldron and Pribyl, fourth in the high jump; Zelany and Beatham, fifth in the shot put; shuttle-hurdle relay, fourth; and sprint medley, fourth.

The Timberwolf boys duo of Axline and Harre captured first place in the pole vault on March 27. The combo of White and Loontjer took third in the triple jump. The team of White and Hall placed fourth in the discus event and the shuttle-hurdle and 400-meter relay teams took fourth in Friend.
