FCH Physical Therapy Offers Graston Technique

Fillmore County Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department is now offering the Graston Technique for its patients. The Graston Technique is a patented form of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization therapy (IASTM) that uses stainless steel tools to perform mobilizations on tissues such as muscles, fascia, tendons, etc . These tools are used by running over your skin to feel for fibrous or scar tissue that may be causing you pain or restricting your movement. These tools break up that tissue to restore mobility and function, promote healing, as well as desensitizing painful areas for pain relief.
Fillmore County Hospital’s Auxiliary graciously donated funds to purchase the Graston tools and the training course for FCH Physical Therapist, Bryan Felker, to become certified in using this innovative technique. This tool has proven to be effective in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia, shoulder/back pain, migraines, and much more.
Alice Tatro, Fillmore County Hospital Auxiliary member, was an advocate for enhancing patient care by working directly with the FCH physical therapy department after personal experience with the need for this specific therapy. She recognized the need and benefits of this treatment for our local patients.
