Moses, Lovan Make State

Fillmore Central heavyweight Riley Moses was the C-2 District champion and teammate Christian Lovan finished fourth at 145 pounds to qualify for this year's State Wrestling Championships.
Moses heads to Omaha at 47-5 and will face Ord sophomore C.J. Hoevet (23-22) in the top match of the C-285 bracket.  Lucas Powels (17-19, Yutan) or Derrell Zagurski (51-2, BAGO) figure to be the Panther junior's second-round opponent.
Lovan (41-16) will battle undefeated David City senior Melvin Hernandez (21-0) in his first match in Omaha.  Jacob Mackley, 37-13 of Hershey, and Talon Mues, 45-6 of Arlington, are in the other portion of the draw.
FC also had three wrestlers finish one win short of making State and another who reached his weight's semi-finals before giving up two disqualifications.
"The Panthers fought hard and had a lot of things not go our way, but hung together, showed tremendous composure, character, and sportsmanship and qualified two for the state tourney," Panther head coach Ryan Komenda said.
Dillon Fushia went 3-2 at Centennial and finished his freshman year 18-25 at 106 pounds.  Conner Nun was unable to capture a win at the C-2 District and finishes 9-28 at 113 pounds.  Parker Trowbridge finished 2-2 at Utica and finishes his senior season 40-17 at 132 pounds. Trowbridge qualified for Omaha last season.
Gavin Hinrichs went 2-2 at 152 pounds over the weekend.  Hinrichs ended just two points shy of making State and ends the year 33-19.  Panther Gatlin Motis fell one victory short of making Omaha for a second straight season.  Motis ends his senior campaign at 16-6 at 160 pounds.  Panther 182-pound senior Travien Motis was unable to wrestle at districts after suffering a substantial injury at the 2018 SNC Wrestling Championships last week.
