T'Wolf Boys 18-5

Exeter-Milligan picked up a pair of key wins last week in area boys basketball action.  With the victories, the Timberwolves stand 18-5 and No. 3 in wildcard points in Class D-2.
E-M overcame a shaky first quarter to down McCool Junction 55-42 last Tuesday at home.  The Timberwolves led just 25-24 at halftime but used a 19-9 third-quarter advantage to thwart the Mustang upset bid.  E-M shot 45 percent (21-for-46) from the floor on February 6 and 57 percent (8-for-14) from the charity stripe.  E-M owned the boards, 35-27.  McCool Junction was whistled for 17 personal fouls.
E-M senior Eric Olsen led all scorers with 18 points and six assists.  Patrick Murphy made three 3-pointers en route to 12 points.  Spencer Pribyl scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Seth Maxson score nine points and Max Zeleny added six points along with eight rebounds. The win against the 12-8 D-1 Mustangs was worth 49 wildcard points.
Olsen was the hero on Friday night at Cross County, as the senior guard canned a mid-range running jumper from the left wing to propel E-M to a 41-39 win against the Cougars. The victory against 9-12 Class C-2 Cross County was worth 47 wildcard points.
E-M led the tight contest throughout, 22-20, at halftime and 31-28 after three periods of play.
Olsen scored 12 points for the winners.  Pribyl had his second double-double of the week with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Murphy swished in nine points and Zeleny scored nine with five rebounds.  Maxson snagged five rebounds.
E-M hosts 1-18 Dorchester this Friday to end its regular season.  D2-2 Sub-district play will begin on Monday, February 19, at Malcolm.  The 18-5 Timberwolves will be the top-seed and will play the winner of the Dorchester/Osceola (2-18) in the early game on Tuesday, February 20.  Second-seeded Parkview Christian (12-9) will play third-seed Mead (8-11) in the other semi-final game.  The sub-district final will take place on Thursday, February 22.
Top-rated Falls City Sacred Heart (20-1) is the class of the other side of the bracket, which also includes 10-12 Sterling.
