Panther Girls 7-6 On Season

Fillmore Central split its games last week in area girls basketball action.
Last Tuesday, the 7-6 Panthers fell to 12-2, C-1 No. 7 Malcolm 63-51.  FC made a fourth-quarter run to trim the lead to six in the fourth quarter but couldn't get any closer.
Alexis Schmidt scored 13 points for FC and Erin Schmidt added 11. Jacki Schelkopf tossed in nine points and Macy Scott netted six.  Both Halle Theis and Lydia Birky had four.  Jamey Broman and Grace Jacobson rounded out the scoring with a basket apiece.
On Thursday, FC surged past state-rated Heartland late to earn a 64-56 victory.  The 9-3, Class D-1 Huskies led the contest 45-42 heading into the fourth period.  Rebounding hustle and press defense brought the victory home for the Panthers.

Scott led all scorers with 19 points.  A. Schmidt muscled in 10 points and Schelkopf added nine. E. Schmidt scored eight points and Birky and Theis both added seven each. Jacobson and Broman both added a bucket for the winners.
