In a showdown of unbeaten teams, the Exeter-Milligan Timberwolves beat the Shelby Huskies 44-39 in girls basketball Friday, Jan. 7 at Shelby.
Exeter-Milligan kept its unbeaten record intact at 10-0, while Shelby fell from the unbeaten ranks, giving them a record of 9-1.
The Timberwolves trailed 15-13 after the opening period, led 26-21 at halftime, and then held a lead of 34-29 going into the fourth quarter.
Exeter-Milligan hit 2 of 4 three-pointers and hit 8 of 18 free throw tries. The Timberwolves hit 18 of 41 field goals. Shelby connected on 1 of 1 three-point attempts and sank 2 of 7 free throw tries.
