FC/E-M Starts Season 0-4

Panther Sydney Schelkopf delivers to the plate Saturday morning against Blair.  Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan began the local high school sports season with games at Wahoo and York.  The 0-4 Panthers played at Fairbury onTuesday before hosting the FC/E-M Softball Tournament this Saturday, August 29, in Geneva.  The Panthers play state-rated Raymond Central this Saturday at 10 a.m., before playing GICC/D-T (11:45) and Twin Rivers (1:30 p.m.)

Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan enters its second week of the season still seeking its first win of the year.
The Panthers started the season with a 6-0 loss at Fairbury.  The game last Thursday was 0-0 until the Jeffs pushed two runs across in the bottom of third, along with three runs in the fourth inning and one more in the bottom of the fifth.
Sydney Schelkopf, Alexis Uldrich and Josie Kresak all smacked hits for FC/E-M.  Aracely Martinez was tagged for the loss after three and one-third innings of work.  Schelkopf finished the games next two innings and two-thirds.
The Panthers were unable to capture a victory in a quadrangular on Saturday in York.  FC/E-M dropped a 12-1 decision to Class B fourth-ranked Blair to begin action on August 23.  Alexis Schmidt, Hannah Horne and A. Martinez all had hits for FC/E-M. Uldrich scored the first run of the year for the Panthers.
Next, top-rated York raced past FC/E-M 11-0 in four innings.  Schelkopf and Eillie Hayes belted out hits for the Panthers.
In the night cap, FC/E-M fell to O'Neill 7-6.  The Eagles exploded for five runs in the third inning after trailing the Panthers 5-0.  O'Neill scored two more runs in the fourth.
