Eagles Whip Red Cloud

In the season-opener, the BDS Eagles hammered the Red Cloud Warriors 64-18 in boys basketball Thursday, Dec. 2 at Davenport in a win ignited by a first-quarter blitz.

BDS’s Kendrick Holeman had the hot hand early, as the junior guard hit for a team-high five 3-pointers en route to scoring 21 points to lead the Eagles past Red Cloud.

“We hope that we have several shooters who can step up when teams zone us,” said BDS Coach Fred Kluck. “tonight Kenny was the guy.”

The Eagles jumped in front 17-3 at the end of the first period, went into the locker room up 35-6 at halftime, and then led 48-13 going into the final period.

“We played pretty sound defensively and we have lot of work to do on the offensive end,” said Coach Kluck.

BDS connected on 7 of 18 three-pointers and hit 9 of 15 free throw attempts. The Eagles sank 17 of 48 field goal attempts.

“Ryan Tegtmeier did a nice job distributing the ball and leading us with nine assists,” Coach Kluck said. “Derek Swartzendruber and Jeremy Row helped us control the boards as they pulled down 10 and 11 rebounds, respectivley. Tanner Ahrens did a good job of scoring down low putting up nine points on the night.”
