Axline, Thomsen, Boys 3,200m Relay Earn State Medals

As usual, the competition was keen at the 2015 NSAA State Track and Field Championships.  The Exeter-Milligan boys were able to score four points in Omaha, as Dusty Axline cleared 13-feet to place sixth in the pole vault and the Timberwolf 3,200-meter relay squad of Dalton Zelenka, Jack Dinneen, Sam Zeleny and Derek Luzum clipped the tape in 8 minutes, 42.65 seconds to place eighth.
For the E-M girls, Maitlyn Thomsen provided the scoring in Omaha with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.33 seconds. Thomsen also placed 11th in the long jump at Burke Stadium with a jump of 15-10.  Her 2015 medal was her third straight year of earning some hardware at the State Meet, as Thomsen placed fifth in both 2013 and 2014 in the Class D girls long jump in Omaha.


Other event finishes for Timberwolves in Omaha included:  Trystan Brandt, 11th long jump, 19-feet, 6-inches; Dalton Zelenka, 16th 3,200-meter run, 10 minutes, 50.77 seconds; Sam Zeleny, 16th 800-meter run, 2:09.44; Zelenka, 15th 1,600-meter run, 4:52.26; Marietta Purtschert, 17th long jump, 15-3; Madison Horne, 15th triple jump, 32-4.5; and girls 1,600-meter relay team of Amber Pribyl, Kelsey Bigelow, Purtschert and Thomsen, 10th, 4:18.93.   
Axline, Luzum and Zelenka are seniors.  Dinneen and Zeleny are juniors and Brandt is a sophomore. Thomsen, Purtschert, Horne and Pribyl are seniors.  Kelsey Bigelow is a freshman.
