Timberwolf Girls Team Champs; Boys Second At 2015 E-M Invite

The Exeter-Milligan girls claimed the team championship at the 2015 E-M Invite in McCool Junction on Tuesday, April 21.  The Timberwolf boys battled McCool Junction for the top spot on the boys' side.  The Mustangs prevailed 127-122 to edge the E-M boys at the seven-team invite.
Maitlyn Thomsen earned three golds and a silver last Tuesday to pace the Timberwolf girls.  The E-M senior won the long jump, 15-feet, 9.50 inches; 200-meter dash, 28.66 seconds; and the 400-meter dash, 64.03.  Thomsen was also second in the 100-meter hurdles behind State favorite Catherine Mick in 16.81 seconds.
Amber Pribyl struck gold for the E-M girls by winning the high jump clearing 4-11.1.  Madison Horne took first in the triple jump with a championship leap of 32-0.
Dalton Zelenka was a double gold medal winner for the Timberwolf boys, as the senior long-distance specialist won the 1,600-meter (5:09.16) and 3,200-meter (11:28.58) runs in McCool Junction.  E-M's Trystan Brandt won the long jump on April 21 with a winning leap of 20-7.5.

Top six efforts for the Timberwolf girls last week were turned in by:  Horne, second 100-meter dash, 13.81; Hannah Beethe, fifth 100-meter hurdles, 18.39; Marietta Purtshert, second 1,600-meter run, 6:06.91; Beethe, fifth 300-meter hurdles, 52.22; 3,200-meter relay, fifth, 12:33.90; Kelsey Bigelow, third pole vault, 8-3; Tara Mueller, third shot put, 29-11.5; Samantha Horne, fifth shot put, 27-6.5; Purtschert, fifth long jump, 14-9.5; Pribyl, 400-meter dash second, 64.92; 400-meter relay, second, 55.10; and 1,600-meter relay, third, 4:31.52.

Medal winners for E-M boys included:  Sam Zeleny, fourth, 1,600-meter run, 5:14.12; Jack Dinneen, sixth 1,600-meter run, 5:16.75; Trevor Luzum, fourth 300-meter hurdles, 46.33; 3,200-meter relay team of Eric Olsen, Patrick Murphy, Joey Bartu and Zelenka, sixth, 10:37.54; Derek Luzum, second high jump, 5-9; T. Luzum, third high jump, 5-7; Dustin Axline, second pole vault, 12-9; Dinneen, fourth pole vault, 11-9; Samuele Columbo, second long jump, 19-8.5; Columbo, third triple jump, 38-5.5; Axline, second 100-meter dash, 11.64; Brandt, fifth 100-meter dash, 11.95; Brandt, fourth 400-meter dash, 56.9; D.
