Eagle Girls Third In Strong Field At Heartland

On Tuesday, April 14, the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley track team traveled to Henderson to participate in the nine-team 2015 Heartland Invitational.  The girls finished in third place and the boys were seventh.
Catherine Mick turned in another solid performance as she broke her own Class D State Record in the pole vault finishing first with a leap of 11-feet, 6-inches.  She also won both the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.6 and the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 48.3.  Later, she teamed up with Tristen Mosier, Brice Ardissono, and Kristin Mosier to take third in the 1,600-meter relay.
Tristen also had a four-medal day taking second in the pole vault with a personal best of 10-4, third in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles as well.  Kristin took third in the triple jump and Megan Grote turned in a personal best taking third in the high jump with a leap of 4-11.  Megan teamed up with Mashaya Dierking, Faith Stengel and McKenna Schardt to finish fifth in the 400-meter relay.  Brice was joined by Courtney Kamler, Johanna Kluck, and Lexi Kadel to finish sixth in the 3,200-meter relay and wrap up the girls' scoring.
The boys were led by Sam Christensen, Hunter Krehnke, and Ben Elznic's first, second and fourth-place finishes in the 110-meter high hurdles.  Sam won with a time of 16.6 seconds and Hunter was second at 17.9, while Ben was fourth with an 18.0.
Hunter came back later to take sixth in the 300-meter hurdles.  T.J. Krupicka finished fourth in the 400-meter dash, as did Colton Lowery in the discus where he threw for a personal best mark of 118-6.  
Kendall Dickson took sixth in the 200-meter dash and later teamed up with Kale Kleinschmidt, Noel Gines and Chris Rohr to finish sixth in the 1,600-meter relay.  Earlier, Chris joined Kale Smith, Brett Holtzen and Karson Dickson to finish in sixth place in the 3,200-meter relay.  Thomas Mick finished fifth in the pole vault and then joined Kale, Ben and Cody Garland to take sixth place in the 400-meter relay to cap the boys' scoring in Henderson.
BDS will join Exeter-Milligan this Tuesday at the E-M Invite in McCool Junction on April 21.
