January Mothers Club

The Geneva Mother's Club met on January 4, at Heritage Crossings Assisted Living dining room. President Mariann Anderson led the group in the Lord's Prayer and the flag salute. The 10 members present revealed their favorite winter pastimes. The secretary's report was read and approved. Carol Strothkamp gave the treasurer's report.
Marge Hofferber's birthday was recognized. Dee Godown read Erma Bombeck's article, "When God Created Fathers." Everyone thanked Jan Manire for giving each a photo of the club taken at the Christmas party. Jo Ann read from the 1943 minutes that stated the club had volunteered to entertain at the USO one night a month. Dorothy Peterson, program chairman, led the group in a Nebraska trivia game.
Mariann introduced Victoria Verhage who is the new director of the Geneva Senior Center. She gave an interesting talk about the center and encouraged everyone to come to the center for meals and entertainment. She has implemented a new beverage center with various kinds of drinks. There is also an information center. The center needs volunteers. The center can be rented by individuals. Everyone enjoyed Victoria's message.
Nancy Domling served German chocolate cake, nuts and coffee. The next meeting will be February 1, with Dorothy Moravec as hostess and Luetta Strothkamp giving the program. Roll call will be: What I would do with an extra $1,000 dollars. Members are to bring three valentines.
