E-M Gets Past Jets; Host J-B For Homecoming Friday

Exter-Milligan zipped out to a 20-0 first-quarter lead at Sterling Friday night before the Jets responded with scores in the second and third periods.  The visiting Timberwolves responded with two fourth-quarter scores of their own to improve to 2-0 on the young season with a 34-16 victory.
Sean Maxson hit pay dirt for E-M three times on September 11 in the first quarter.  The senior back rushed for scores of 24 yards and 55 yards and hauled in a 10-yard Sam Zeleny pass for TDs.
After a pair of Sterling scores, Timberwolf Trevor Luzum raced 47 yards for a score and Zeleny rambled 24 yards later to ice the contest.
The E-M defense was stout allowing just 136 yards of total offense, while the Timberwolves rushed for 312 yards and threw for another 34.  E-M had the lone turnover in the well-played contest.
Maxson rushed 13 times for 121 yards Friday night and Luzum toted the pigskin 17 times for 104 yards.  Zeleny rushed 22 times for 87 yards and also completed 5-of-7 passes for 34 yards. Maxson caught two balls for 14 yards and Luzum had a nine-yard reception.  Eric Olsen hauled in one pass for six yards and Jack Dinneen had one catch for five yards.
Luzum logged nine solo tackles and Zeleny had eight.  Maxson contributed six solos and four assisted.  Kirby Soukup and Cameron White logged 3.5 stops and Spencer Papik added 2.5.  Johnathon Mounce accounted for a sack and two tackles and Dinnen had 1.5 stops.  Olsen notched one solo tackle.
E-M hosts 2-0 Johnson-Brock this Friday night in Milligan for its 2015 Homecoming contest.
